Parent Information Night

Thank you to those who could make parent information night. It was lovely to spend some time with you and discuss the journey your child will embark on this year.

PLD Packs

Your child's pack is due back this coming Tuesday. There is a box next to the cube storage for you to place the packs in. Please let me know if you are struggling with these books.

Homework
New spelling words and a fluency grid will come home this week. You will have these words and a grid for the next fortnight.

Class Reps
Congratulations to Jennifer Coltton and John Lawrence on putting their hands up to be class representatives.

Shrove Tuesday

Shrove Tuesday is a Catholic festival celebrated in many countries across the globe. It falls on the Tuesday before the beginning of Lent – a period of around six weeks leading up to Easter. During Lent, Catholic's give up luxuries to remember when Jesus went into the desert for 40 days to fast and pray.

Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday opens Lent, a season of fasting and prayer. Ash Wednesday takes place 46 days before Easter Sunday and is chiefly observed by Catholics, although many other Christians observe it too.

Ash Wednesday comes from the ancient Jewish tradition of penance and fasting. The practice includes the wearing of ashes on the head.

The ashes symbolise the dust from which God made us. The ashes are made from the blessed palms used in the Palm Sunday celebration of the previous year.

Pencil Cases

Thank you so much to all the volunteers that help put putting the pencil cases together. I have had to order some more sets of cards to finish these and once they are completed, we will send the pencil cases home for your child's name to be placed on all items.

Character Strength VIA

St Cecilia was known for her musical abilities. She also loved to paint, as well as sing and play music. St Cecilia is why music is such a central part of the liturgy today. Do you come up with lots of different and individual ideas? Are you a problem solver? Do you have a magnificent imagination?

Artist Incursion

We are super lucky this week to have the chance to work with the artist Andrew Fraser in an initiative organised by our incredible P&F

Library

Library was a great success and I hope you and your child have enjoyed the wonderful book that they brought home.

Birthdays

If you want your child to have a different treat to celebrate children's birthdays at school, please bring in your treats for me to store.
